Reema's Bio
Reema
began teaching yoga in 2002. She teaches vinyasa, pranayama,
philosophy and ayurvedic cooking worldwide. She thanks her
greatest influences - her family, Danny Paradise, Dharma
Mittra, Larry Schultz, and the numerous great yogis she has
practiced with throughout the world, each dedicated to
sharing the healing and empowering practice with as many as
possible.
Reema
is co-author of the book, Sacred Sanskrit Words for Yoga,
Chant and Meditation (available on
www.amazon.com). She
recently completed a CD of Sanskrit Chants, produced with
Ferenz Kallos. (available through
info@ushayogafoundation.org)
Reema
has taught throughout Europe, Asia, Africa and North America
with Danny Paradise (www.dannyparadise.com).
Throughout their travels, Reema spread the message of the
Usha Yoga Foundation, which brings yoga to those who have
little or no access to the practice - either in remote areas
of the world or in battered women's shelters, drug rehab
centers, nursing homes, hospitals and slums. The Usha
Foundation is a 501c3 organization and supports projects in
India, Indonesia, Kenya, South Africa, England and the U.S.
Danny has helped organize music benefits for Usha in over 10
cities around the world.
Prior
to her travels, Reema worked with Larry Schultz and Katie
Cariffe at It's Yoga, San Francisco, where she developed
teacher training programs and produced a CD with Sanskrit
Chants and a guide on how to pronounce the Sanskrit names of
the postures and terminology that fall under Ashtanga Yoga.
The CD is available on
www.itsyoga.net.
Reema
studied International Affairs at Vassar College and The
London School of Economics (M.A.). She also worked for the
United Nations in New York. Reema enjoys using her
experience to run the Usha Yoga Foundation and to explore
the process of building empowerment from within. She
conducts annual retreats to her grandfather's community
center in Khaknar, a tribal village in Central North India.
